Text: Genesis 2:2-3 “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”
Observation: God did the entire work of creation in six days. After this, on the seventh day, God rested from work, blessed and made the seventh day holy by setting it apart as a special day dedicated to rest from work done on the other six days and mind you, all of this was done at creation before sin entered the earth. What’s interesting is satan has been using the Sabbath as a tool to taint our faith and relationship with God by putting us in situations where we have to choose between being faithful by trusting God to make a way/provide or take work and business opportunities that always seems to pop-up on the Sabbath.
Application: I must always remember to obey and honor the Sabbath because it’s holy, set apart and blessed by God. No compromises will be made by me. For whatever comprises that I make, it would all be for a losing cause and effort because no true blessing can come out of it.
Prayer: Lord God thank you for being so clear and transparent with your word. Help me to live my life according to your word. Grant me wisdom, understanding, courage and the willingness to be a faithful servant by obeying your Sabbath I pray Amen
