Text: Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.”
Observation: Jesus presents us with His blessing, invitation and warning in one metaphor so that those who are called and have the right heart posture will understand and act upon it. For the washing of robe signifies purification from our sinfulness which happens when we acknowledge our sinfulness and repent from it while putting our faith in Jesus Christ to deliver us and make us whole by covering us with His righteousness. For only the righteous will be allowed into the new city of God, the new Jerusalem.
Application: I must put my pride and ego aside by acknowledging that I cannot save myself on my own. I am thankful that there’s still hope for me as God continues to give me clarity of His words and metaphors, for I would hate to be like the Pharisees, where the truth and the light was amongst them and they totally missed it because they were being led by their pride and ego, the Messiah came and went.
Prayer: Lord God instill in me the spirit of repentance so that I may partake in your blessing by accepting your invitation and heeding your warnings I pray Amen
